Resident Ecolodge & Campus Operations Manager – Malawi

Ecolodgy is looking for a practical, entrepreneurial individual to live on-site and help lead the next stage of development of its 2.8-hectare eco-hospitality and sustainability campus near Blantyre.

The role combines day-to-day management of the lodge, guest facilities and site infrastructure with staff leadership, operational improvement and support for new hospitality, training and sustainability projects.

We are looking for someone with at least five years' experience in hospitality, facilities, lodge or site management who is comfortable managing a local team, solving practical problems and taking responsibility for a diverse operation.

A family villa is provided on site. The position is full time, with salary and incentive options depending on experience. For the right long-term candidate, there may also be scope to discuss a future commercial or ownership interest in the business.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a conventional hospitality role and would like to help shape a distinctive social enterprise combining eco-tourism, sustainable living, training and community impact in Malawi.

The Opportunity

This is an unusual position for somebody who wants considerably more autonomy than a conventional hospitality-management role.

The successful candidate will inherit an established site and team, but will also have considerable scope to influence how Ecolodgy develops.

The objective is to build a professionally managed and financially sustainable campus where hospitality, sustainable living, education, enterprise and community impact reinforce one another.

We are therefore interested in candidates who can not only manage the operation successfully today, but who can see what the site could become over the next several years.
